OLD IRON

 

  1. Class is open to all cars. Pre rans are allowed.
  2. All cars must be stock, unless modification is stated in the rules.
  3. All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from car.
  4. All decking in station wagons MUST be removed!!!
  5. Tires no taller than 31”, no split rims, valve stem protectors are okay.
  6. Use motor and tranny of your choice. Must be in STOCK location. You may chain or weld your motor in 4 spots.
  7. Use rear end of your choice, up to 8 lug. Tilting rear end is recommended. You may chain rear end in 4 spots.
  8. Radiator must remain in front of motor.
  9. All cars MUST have working brakes.
  10. All trailer hitches must be removed.
  11. Original gas tank must be removed. You must use a steel fuel tank (7.5 gallon MAX)
  12. Batteries must be moved to passenger’s floorboard and properly secured.
  13. Hoods must have 2,  4 inch holes for fires.

CAR BUILDING

Anything is legal between rear of A-frame to the center of rear axle (for driver’s protection) BUT NO STUFFING THE FRAME WITH CONCRETE!

  1. Doors, tailgates, trunks may be welded solid with no more 5” wide strap x Ό ‘ thick.
  2. BODY – You may weld body to frame BUT DO NOT ADD ANY METAL! ALL FACTORY body seams may be re-welded.
  3. If you have to patch any sheet metal you MUST USE SAME THICKNESS AS the metal in that CAR BODY. You may only overlap 3”.
  4. Frame patching – Frame repair can only be made on 2 of the 4 sides of frame. Rusty or bent frames may be fixed by using a few beads of weld, and no more than ten (10) 4x4x1/4” PATCHES on the FRAME. DO NOT GRIND OR PAINT WHAT YOU FIX!!
  5. BUMPERS – Bumper height to the bottom = 25”. Bumpers are interchangeable. Any automobile bumper and brackets may be used on any car. YOU MAY USE HOMEMADE BRACKETS, but brackets MUST not exceed 12” long, 6” wide. Make sure bumper is welded solid.
  6. HOODS & TRUNK LID – Hoods & trunk may use eight (8) 1” bolts total. May have 5” washer on sheet metal only to hold bolts.
  7. FRAME WELDING – You may REWELD ALL frame seams.
  8. **For drivers protection** you may weld a bar behind the seat at rear of back door and also a bar across the dash. You may connect these bars with two cross bars. ROLL BARS ARE RECOMMENDED! ROLL OVER BAR MAY BE WELDED TO THE FLOOR WITH A 5” PAD.

**FLOOR ONLY** May run 4 bars from cage to frame. MUST BE TO THE FLAT PART OF FRAME NO FARTHER THAN BACK OF A-ARM TO CENTER OF REAR AXLE.

  1. Body Bolts & Body Bushings – Body bolts may be changed, body bushings may be removed. You may use up to 1” bolts. You may also add 4 additional body mounts.
  2. Washers cannot exceed over 5”.
  3. Suspension – NO TRUCK REARENDS IN THE CAR CLASS. If you chose to compete with a coil sprung car, YOU MAY CONVERT IT TO LEAF SPRINGS. No more than a ten (10) leaf spring pack. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DOUBLE MAIN. 6 clamps MAX per side must also be in the factory mounting position (meaning no springs turned on their sides). May not exceed 2 ½ “ wide or Ό” thick. You may use home made spring shackles (may not exceed ½”x6”x6”).
  4. Fenders may be cut out. Fenders may also be bolted or welded back together.
  5. For safety you are allowed one strap in each window opening. Straps can be 5” wide by Ό” thick and welded 5” on the roof. Hardtop cars may have another strap at the door post. MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE BAR FROM ROOF TO DASH FOR SAFETY.
  6. ALL HOODS MUST BE OPEN FOR INSPECTION.
 

THIS IS OLD IRON NOT OUTLAW. YOU STILL CAN BE LOADED ON YOUR TRAILER. RRP DOES NOT AND WILL NOT ALLOW OUTLAW CARS.
